Despite having quite a comical name (hes going to hate me for saying that ) Levi Bunyan is an Aberdeen based graphic designer, of whom has established himself a solid portfolio of posters and similar for many local bands. His style is characterised by the use of clean lines and often imaginative vectors that he incorporates into his designs.  I caught up with him the other day and squeezed the following interview out of him, check out his site and flickr stream.

What are your main influences?

Back when I started designing, I liked alot of different stuff I found on flickr and deviantart, this one guy agentfive on dA really got me into poster designing. Lately iv been really into the stuff by iso50, and of course the Obey Giant stuff.

What are your weapons of choice?

ak47 everytime! haha erm, I use a Dell XPS studio laptop, Wacom tablet, and Canon 400D camera, then I use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for the most part… and ofcourse pens, pencils, paper and the usually ‘artsy’ stuff haha

You have been producing gig posters more frequently, do you try to show the genre of the band through the imagery, or do you just go off on your own tangent?

Whenever I make a poster, for the most part, I listen to the band and try and get a feel for what they are about, and incorporate it into my own style, mixing the best of both, or atleast, trying to. Tho, there has been times I’ve had my own idea sunk in and go off on a tagent and do what I think would look nice

What do you do when you are not desiging? Other hobbies etc?

I am a geek 90% of the time. My hobbies were photography and designing from the beginning really, just turned into something more in the past while. Tho, I also train in Muay Thai kickboxing, enjoy mountain biking, and socialising, always good to meet new people etc etc.

Drink? JD n coke

Song for the moment? As I Watch You From Afar – Set Guitars To Kill
