Young Carers Project: Urban Art Exhibition

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

pyc-key-expo-v2An Urban Art Exhibition, featuring some fantastic UK street artists, is being held in Peterborough to raise awareness and fund for Young Carers. The 2 week exhibition will consist of artwork that has been donated by artists and photographers from all over the world. The exhibition not only features ’street art’ but also some more traditional pieces – those made with a brush rather than a can.

Work has been donated from a range of artists with different styles. Some of our favourites: Funky Red Dog, Elmo, Dogtired, Lex and My Dog Sighs.

Kaine Kulczak, a local Peterborough artist, organised the event after hearing the stories of two young carers: “These children were talking about how they were responsible for cooking, cleaning and in some cases medicating their parents. They also spoke about how they were afraid to ask for help because they thought it would break up their family“.

The donated artwork will all be sale during the exhibition and all proceeds will go directly to the Young Carers Project. The event currently has a blog and a website where you can find out information on the event and the artists exhibiting.

The exhibition is to take place at the Key Theatre in Peterborough from the 25th August to the 5th September. There will be an exclusive preview night on the 24th August. If you would like to attend this special night then please email Kaine Kulczak kaine@kulczak.com.

If you are in the area over this period, please take a look at the exhibition and support the cause.
